Please Note

X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) is a non-destructive method to determine elemental concentrations on the surface of materials. Not all XRF analyzers have the same capabilities.

Every state has specific requirements for owning an X-ray emitting machine. Register your XRF device via your state's Department of Health website.

Detectable Elements: Titanium (Ti), Vanadium (V), Chromium (Cr), Manganese (Mn), Iron (Fe), Cobalt (Co), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Tungsten (W), Iridium (Ir), Platinum (Pt), Gold (Au), Lead (Pb), Bismuth (Bi), Zirconium (Zr), Molybdenum (Mo), Ruthenium (Ru), Rhodium (Rh), Palladium (Pd), Silver (Ag), Cadmium (Cd), Tin (Sn), Antimony (Sb).

Does not measure Aluminum (Al), Magnesium (Mg), or Silicon (Si).

XRF Spectrometry Data Method

GEMORO analyzers use superior Fundamental Parameters (FP) for quantitative analysis—no standards or calibration curves needed. This allows immediate use and identification of unknown materials via stored libraries.

How XRF Works

XRF strikes the sample with an X-ray beam, causing elements to fluoresce characteristic X-rays. The detector measures energy and intensity to determine elemental presence and quantity.

At the atomic level, primary X-rays eject inner orbital electrons, creating vacancies. Outer electrons fill these, releasing fluorescent X-rays unique to each element (K, L, M lines in EDXRF).
