Domestic Shipping Policy

We are committed to delivering your order safely and efficiently. The information below explains our domestic shipping practices, shipping terms, and recommendations for protecting your shipment while it is in transit.

Shipping Methods

Gesswein ships orders throughout the United States using reputable parcel and freight carriers, including UPS, FedEx, USPS, and LTL freight carriers. The carrier and service selected will depend on the size, weight, destination, and shipping method requested for your order.

Some products may be shipped directly from one of Gesswein's approved suppliers (drop shipment). When an order is shipped directly from a supplier, shipping times, carrier selection, and tracking information may vary.

Shipping Terms (FOB Origin)

Unless otherwise stated in writing, all domestic shipments are made FOB Origin (Shipping Point).

This means title to and risk of loss for the merchandise transfer to the customer when Gesswein, or our authorized supplier in the case of a drop shipment, delivers the shipment to the carrier for transportation.

In simple terms: Once the carrier accepts your shipment, the shipment becomes the customer's responsibility while it is in transit. If loss or damage occurs during shipping, claims are generally handled through the carrier.

Shipping Insurance

Because domestic shipments are made FOB Origin (Shipping Point), customers assume the risk of loss or damage once the shipment has been delivered to the carrier.

Shipping insurance is optional and is not automatically included unless specifically requested or otherwise noted on your quotation or order confirmation.

Customers may request shipping insurance when placing an order. If requested, Gesswein will arrange for the shipment to be insured through the carrier or an approved third-party insurance provider, and the applicable insurance charges will be added to the order.

Customers who ship using their own UPS, FedEx, or other carrier account are responsible for selecting any desired insurance or declared value coverage directly with their carrier.

For high-value merchandise or capital equipment, Gesswein strongly recommends purchasing shipping insurance or shipping on your own carrier account with the appropriate level of coverage.

Shipping Damage

Please inspect your shipment promptly upon delivery.

If you notice visible damage to the package or merchandise:

  • Note the damage with the delivery driver whenever possible before accepting the shipment.
  • Take photographs of the packaging and damaged products.
  • Retain all original packaging and packing materials.
  • Notify Gesswein as soon as possible so we can assist in resolving the issue.

Please do not discard the shipping carton, pallet, or packaging materials until the merchandise has been fully inspected and verified to be in good condition. Carriers and insurers frequently require inspection of the original packaging when processing damage claims.

Although damage that occurs during transit is subject to the carrier's claims process under our FOB Origin shipping terms, Gesswein will gladly assist customers by providing documentation and helping facilitate claims whenever possible.

Concealed Damage

If damage is discovered after opening the package:

  • Save the original carton and all packing materials.
  • Take clear photographs of the damage.
  • Contact Gesswein promptly after discovery.

Because carriers often impose strict deadlines for concealed damage claims, prompt notification is important to preserve your ability to pursue a claim.

Lost Packages

If your shipment is lost in transit or cannot be located after the carrier indicates delivery, please take the following steps:

  • Verify the shipping address on your order confirmation.
  • Check around the delivery location and with household members, neighbors, or receiving personnel.
  • Check your order confirmation, invoice, or shipping notice - or contact Gesswein - to determine whether the shipment was billed to your carrier account or Gesswein's carrier account.
  • Follow the applicable claim process below.

Shipment billed to your carrier account: Contact the carrier promptly and initiate the lost package claim directly. Notify Gesswein if you need shipping documentation, tracking details, proof of shipment, or other reasonable assistance.

Shipment billed to Gesswein's carrier account: For prepay-and-add and other shipments billed to Gesswein's carrier account, contact Gesswein Customer Service promptly. Gesswein will initiate and manage the lost package claim with the carrier. Please do not open a separate carrier claim unless Gesswein asks you to do so.

Because shipments are made FOB Origin (Shipping Point), lost package claims remain subject to the carrier's claims process. The account-based procedure above determines who administers the claim and does not change the transfer of title or risk of loss under Gesswein's FOB Origin shipping terms.
