Product Description
The Todescato L45 is a compact, single-torch hydrogen welding system used by bench jewelers for precision soldering and welding of gold, silver, and platinum. It runs on a KOH electrolyte solution in an internal tank — no gas cylinders required! The gas passes through a methanol-based flux in the booster tank before reaching the torch tip, which refines the flame for fine metalwork. At 3,200°C maximum, it has enough heat for platinum.

Required Chemicals:
Both are required to operate the L45.
Electrolyte (cell fluid) — choose one:
- Premixed: OKAI HF-8 (Item 8300833) — use 1/2 bottle for initial fill. Lasts approximately 1 year; top off with deionized water as the level drops.
- Mix your own: Dissolve 180g dry KOH in 0.445L deionized water (per Todescato L45 manual specifications).
Flux / Deoxidizer (booster) — choose one:
- Premixed: OKAI HF-9 (Item 8300834) — fill booster tank per instruction manual.
- Mix your own: Combine 1 liter Methanol (Item 8300040) with 15–20 grams Boric Acid (Item 830456). This is the Todescato Code 131 formula and is equivalent to HF-9.
- Important Compatibility: Do not use MEK in any Todescato system — MEK is an Aquaflame booster and is not compatible with Todescato hoses. Use only methanol-based flux as described above.
Setup Kit: The Hydrogen Torch Setup Kit (Item 8301085) includes measuring beakers, a graduated cylinder, a stirring rod, safety goggles, and disposable gloves — everything needed for safe electrolyte preparation.
